Charles Kubik Rites Held Here Tuesday 1957 Funeral services for Charles Edward Kubik, 48, were held at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, Aug. 13 at the Mason funeral home. Mr. Kubik, died at his work the afternoon of Aug 5, 1957, in Scottsdale, Arizona, lived in the Otter Creek community many years. Death was attributed to a coronary occlusion. He had worked as a carpenter in the Phoenix suburb since moving there about 12 years ago. Father W. W. Schmidt officiated at the services. Rosary was read at the funeral home Monday night. Three girls, Rita, Barbara and Kathyrn Behounek; sang "Mother Dear, O Pray Me" and "O Sacred Heart." Barbara Bru played the organ. Mrs. Mary Ernest and Mrs. Stanley cared for flowers. Burial was in Holy Trinity cemetery. Pallbearers were Wesley Rebik, William Webster, Louis Webster, Charles Parizek, Ambrose Kearney and Ben Hlas. Mr. Kubik was born March 2, 1909. on an Otter Creek farm to Anton and Barbara Parizek. He was educated in rural schools of the area. He was married to Violet West, Tama, in St Patrick's church here. The couple lived on a farm in Otter Creek township after their marriage until moving to Arizona. Survivors include his widow, Phoenix; two children, Larry and Sherry; Phoenix; two sisters, Mrs. Art (Agnes) Chaloupek, Tama; and Mrs. Louis (Emma) Behounek, Chelsea; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. His parents died earlier. Attending the services were persons from Cedar Rapids, Clutier, Dysart, Garwin, Toledo and Tama.
