I just found out that my GGGgrandparents, William and Mary Kennel, and 3 of their children, Valentine, Conrad and Catherine, left Somerset County in 1859 and settled in Highland Twp. Tama County. My GGgrandfather, William's eldest son John, remained in Somerset County where he married Elizabeth Bone. My family line stayed in Somerset up until the 1940's. In the August issue of the Laurel Messenger, newsletter for Somerset County Hist. Society, Jeanie D. White of California, wrote that they are all buried in the Korns Cemetery. Do you have any data online? Do you have a mail list for Tama County? Carol

My husband's great grandfather lived in Genesco Township, Mooreville to be exact and was postmaster there in 1870-71. His name was Enoch Moore and his son was David. Would you know if there are any town records available for this time period. They moved on to Nebraska about 1880. I was looking for any land records, I think he also was part owner or owner of a mill, he was a presbyterian so I was looking for the name of a church. Also Enoch was captain of the ship WP Clyde that broughtJefferson Davis from Histon Head to fortress Monroe, son David was purser and David was the one who kept the photograph album of the Davis family that was subsequently returned to the Davis family and I was wondering what newspaper of the area might have any record of this event. I appreciate your quick response, thanks for any help, Dahrl
