very young. He was buried in the southwest corner of the lawn at the Sparrow farm home.

Ephraim died on April 28, 1893. Jennie died on January 11, 1894.

STALLINGS :

Abe served as a cavalryman during the Civil War. I remember him as the Marshal of the Day during celebrations in Zearing. Abe rode a white horse while serving as the marshal. He looked exactly like the popular conception of a western cavalryman.

Sylvester Abe Stallings was born in Logan county, Illinois, on May 16, 1841. Abe married Ruella Oretta Ufford in March, 1866. They moved to Zearing, Iowa, in 1889.

Abe and Ruella were the parents of a daughter, Anna Myrtle Ingledue.

Abe died on April 21, 1927. Ruella died on February 20, 1915.

Stebbins :

Members of the Stebbins family were among the first settlers in our community. Alonso Stebbins lived here before the township was formed in 1866. Julius Stebbins is mentioned in the early school records of Lincoln township. The name Stebbins appears on the charter membership lists of the Evangelical and Christian churches.

Alonso Stebbins married Jane Greer. They were the parents of four children. The children were Henry, Lorenzo, Albert, and Mary.

A news item of the early 1900's gave us some information about Albert. It said that he lived at that time in Antelope county, Nebraska. His address was Tilden, Nebraska, which is located in Madison county, Nebraska.

Julius Stebbins was born on May 17, 1823, in England. Angeline Mills was born on January 31, 1824, in England. Julius and Angeline were married in England. They moved to New York from England. Later they came to Iowa. The trip to Iowa was made in an ox drawn covered wagon.

Julius and Angeline were the parents of five children. We are not certain about the spelling of one of the names. It could have been Alminisi or Almonsi. The other four were Eugene, Theodore, Frank, and Florence. Eugene was generally known as C. E.

Julius died on December 22, 1909. Angeline died on February 9, 1917. They are buried in the Illinois Grove Cemetery.
