Lloyd and Esther were the parents of two daughters. They were Fern and Velda.

SHAW :
The Shaw family came to our community before 1900. Descendants are living in our community in 1956.
Daniel D. Shaw was born on June 17, 1836, in Montgomery county, Ohio. Daniel was a veteran of the Civil War. Anna Miller was born in Martinsburg, West Virginia, on January 20, 1843. Daniel and Anna were married at Forreston, Illinois, on September 5, 1867. They moved to our community in 1889.
Daniel and Anna were the parents of six children. They were John, Mary Belle Shaw Horst, Nellie Shaw Sparrow, Richard, Edna May, and Alice Shaw Hedges. Richard and Nellie Shaw Sparrow are living in our community in 1956.
Daniel died on December 2, 1893. Anna died on May 12, 1925.
SMITH :
The name Smith was a prominent name in the early history of our community. Three Smith families helped to build our community. Members of the Smith families were always interested in improving our community.
Robert Delson Smith, the son of Enoch and Jerusha Smith, was born in Hunterdon county, New Jersey, on March 4, 1842. Robert was nine years old when the family moved to Stephenson county, Illinois. Robert was a veteran of the Civil War.
Sarah Smith, the daughter of Reuben and Sally Smith, was born in Northampton county, Pennsylvania, on August 10, 1848. She was a little girl when her family moved to Illinois.
Robert and Sarah were married at Freeport, Illinois, on December 23, 1865. They were the parents of five children. The children were Reuben, William, Mary, Frank, and Cora.
Robert and Sarah were active in church work in our community. They moved to a farm in Lincoln township in 1878. Later they moved to Zearing.
Robert died on October 9, 1925. Sarah died on January 29, 1936.
James S. Smith was born in Ireland on January 17, 1853. He came to the United States with his parents in 1865. They settled in Henry county, Illinois.
James was a merchant and banker in our community. He was the mayor of Zearing in the 1890's. In 1901, he helped to organize the State Savings Bank of Zearing. James was the cashier of the bank at the time of his death.
James married Jessie Burkhart of Zearing on August 4, 1886. James and Jessie were the parents of eight children. Three died in
