GUTHRIE :
The Guthrie family came from Adams county, Ohio. Guthrie was a well known pioneer name in our community. Effie Guthrie Craft, who is living in Zearing, Iowa, in 1956, was born in a log cabin in Lincoln township on November 11, 1876. She was born while the John H. Guthrie family was visiting the Adam K. Guthrie family.
Adam K. Guthrie came to Lincoln township prior to 1874. We know that is true because Adam and Daniel Dakins built a school house in Illinois Grove in 1874. Adam was a farmer and a carpenter.
Adam married Lovina Dakins of Lincoln township on February 18, 1876. They were the parents of seven children. The children were Rebecca, Henry A., Benjamin H., Soloman W., Mable, Alice, and Anna.
Adam died on August 8, 1917. Lovina died on January 16, 1922.
John H. Guthrie married Mary Minerva Williams in Adams county, Ohio, on April 18, 1872. They moved to Zearing, Iowa, in 1883. John was a carpenter.
John and Minerva were the parents of seven children. They were Maggie, Effie, Floyd, Ollie, Orville, George, and Pearl.
John died on March 21, 1896. Mary Minerva died on March 20, 1935.
