IAGENWEB ACTIVE SPECIAL PROJECTS


IOWA GENEALOGY BOARDS
A set of boards developed by IAGenWeb for the posting of queries, biographies, obituaries, and genealogical documents. These boards include a search mechanism that may be used within a county or state-wide. The boards have been implemented by a majority of the county sites. While not a Special Project, the boards are a tool to facilitate other IAGenWeb projects.

IOWA GRAVESTONE PHOTO PROJECT
An extensive collection of Gravestone Photos from Iowa Cemeteries. Researchers can submit photos and transcriptions of their ancestor's gravestones and connect with yet-to-be-discovered cousins in the process. Photos may be searched by county or state-wide. Coordinated by Rich Lowe.

IOWA HISTORY PROJECT
Bringing the history of Iowa alive through the transcription of various Iowa history books and documents. Coordinated by Constance Diamond.

IOWA IN THE CIVIL WAR
A project to promote the people, events and genealogy of Iowa Regiments in the Civil War. Coordinated by MaryAlice Schwanke.

IOWA IN THE GREAT WAR
A project to promote the people, events and genealogy of Iowans in the Great War (WWI). Coordinated by Constance Diamond.

IOWA IN WORLD WAR II
A project to provide records about Iowans who served during the WWII years 1939-1945. Coordinated by Linda Ziemann with Assistant Connie Swearingen.

IOWA STATE CENSUS PROJECT
An attempt to identify, transcribe and publish on the Internet, essentially all of the State Census data for Iowa, and to publish the data in a consistent, logical, download-efficient manner. Coordinated by Stephen D. Williams.

IOWA FAMILY GROUP SHEET PROJECT
This project contains family group sheets about people who resided in Iowa. The project also includes links to county sites that have their own collections of family group sheets, family histories, or family websites connected to the county: http://iagenweb.org/fgs/CountyFGS.htm. Coordinated by Constance McDaniel Hall.

IOWA OLD PRESS
This project collected articles from old Iowa newspapers. Have a look back at the lives and times of our Iowa ancestors as reported in early newspapers. Coordinated by Linda Ziemann.

IOWA WPA GRAVES REGISTRATION SURVEY
These records contain burials throughout much of Iowa that were compiled by WPA workers in the 1930 s, including grave markers which no longer exist today. Records may be searched within a county or state-wide. Coordinated by Rich Lowe.

ORPHAN TRAIN RIDERS TO IOWA
Orphaned Train Riders to Iowa hopes to educate you on the subject and further your research on those who came to Iowa on one of the infamous Orphan Trains. Coordinated by Linda Ziemann.


USGENWEB SPECIAL PROJECTS


IOWA ARCHIVES
The USGenWeb Iowa Archives is a continuing effort to make public domain records available through the Internet. Examples of county-based records for the Archives include state census, vital records (births, deaths, marriages), court records, land records, church records, military records, local history and other public-access records of genealogial value. Alice Brosey is the current Iowa Archives Coordinator.
