Mystery Photos

 Unidentified Photos    HOME

Hi!  I have a whole box of photos with people to identify.
I have attached two family photos, from the Alton IA area, and all related to the Scholtens.

The above picture with the one man and women is my great great grandmother Diedrika Hendrika Frederiks (Mrs John) and her children.  I need to know which one is which!  The oldest, would be my great grandmother Hattie, and the youngest, Josie (Johanna). Annetta and Marie are the two mystery sisters.  I have pictures of them when they are older, but I am confused on this one. I don't know which sister is which?

The second picture is a puzzle.  I first thought it was Hermana and Willem Scholten, but I wonder if it is Karl Wissink and Minnie with two of their then living children!

Gerrit Jan Scholten and Wife Hendrika Frederiks, with Art in the front.  Back row , beginning left, would be Willem, Joe, Richard and Fred.  Gerrit and Hendrika both grew up in the Sioux County, Alton area.  Gerrit Jan came to the US from Holland in 1870, and moved to Sioux County in the mid 1870's.  His father was Willem Karel Scholten, and his mother, Hermanna Scholten.

This picture is Willem Karel Scholten, born 1826 in Zutphen, son of Gerrit Jan and Jennekin Struikman, of Zutphen.  This is my great great grandfather.  He is buried in the Alton cemetary with Hermanna.
