Harvey Velgersdyk, 68, of Rock Valley died of
cancer Sunday December 5th as his residence.
Services will be at 2pm Thursday at First
Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley with Rev. C. Eric Fennema
officiating. Burial will be in memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center.
Velgersdyk was born November 29, 1931 in Hull,
the son of John and Nellie (Vande Griend) Velgersdyk. He graduated from
Western Christian High School in 1949. He married Christina Eenhoorn on
12-21-1951. He served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. the couple made
their home in Inwood, where he was employed as am advertising consultant
with west Lyon Herald and Northwest Iowa Peach for 18 years. He retired in
1993 and they moved to Rock Valley in 1994.
He was a member of First Christian Reformed
Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry of
Orange City and Loren and his wife Kathy of Sioux Falls; Two daughters and
their husbands, Cheryl and Henry Kats of Hull adn Vonda and Jim Sterk of
Lynden, Washington; 10 grandchildren; and three brothers and their wives,
Clarence and Joyce of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Harold and Jackie of Denver,
Colorado, and Marlan and Carol of Sioux Falls.
He was preceeded in death by Twin children, Marlo
and Marla and his parents.

Velgersdyk Twins Die
Graveside rites were held at the local cemetery
on Wednesday morning Aug, 20 for Marlo Rae and Marla Rae, twins born to Mr
and Mrs Velgersdyk at the local Hospital on Monday Aug. 18. The babies
passed away Tuesday. The mother is the former Christina Eenkhoorn and they
were the couples first children.
Student James Lont officiated at the services and
arrangements were under the direction of Vander Pleog funeral home.
Surviving besides the parents are the
grandparents Mrs. Art Eenkhoorn of Sioux Center and Mr. and Mrs.
Velgersdyk of Hull.
