SIOUX COUNTY TEACHERS’ INSTITUTE

One of the best teachers’ institutes ever held in Sioux County was on Thursday and this Friday at Orange City. The schools all over the county were closed on these days and a number of towns from out of the county also sent teachers.

The enrollment for Thursday totaled 288 teachers, and practically all of these pedagogues as well as others heard Dr. E. C. Perisho, president of the South Dakota State college, give an inspiring lecture last night in the town hall on ‘The Teacher”.

Besides President Perisho the program for the two days included lectures by E. L. Palmer of Cedar Falls, J. E. Stout of Cornell College, Theresa Dansdill of Cedar Rapids, E. J. Ashbaugh of Iowa State university, and W. E. French of Hawarden. Music for the programs was furnished by S. H. Buntley of Sheldon, instructor in music in the Orange City Schools.
