Used divided back postcard: I Can't Help Thinking You Should Be In Defiance Vere All Goot Peoples Iss. Postmarked Jan. 4, 1913 ?PM at Defiance, Iowa. Addressed to Miss Clara Hofer, 115 N. Galena, Ave., Freeport, Ill. Dated 1/4/13. Message reads: "Dear Clara, How are you, busy I suppose. We have about 3 or 4 inches of snow this morning. Looks nice, but would rather it had waited a while yet. The boys have four rows of shingles yet to put in then the shingling would be done, are working inside today. Lovingly, Your Sister, Mrs. I. Coenen."

Used divided back postcard: Dere Iss Somebody Yet In Defiance Dot Vants To See Somebody Undt It's You. Postmarked Feb., 1913 at Defiance, Iowa. Addressed to Miss Clara Hofer, 115 N. Galena, Ave., Freeport, Illinois. Dated February 1st, 1913. Message reads: "Dear Clara, Rec'd your little letter yeasterday [sic yesterday]. Am always pleased to hear from home. It is very cold here at present. Was to Manilla yeasterday [sic yesterday] evening and very near froze. Wish you could be here Monday night. There will be another dance. Hope all are well. We are same or worse. Your sister, Rose."
