Eyberg, Ann Frances (Russmann)

February 24, 1976 - August 15, 2010

Eyberg, Jaime Clay

February 16, 1974 - August 14, 2010

http://www.ohdefuneralhome.com/memsol.cgi?user_id=241131&...

Jamie Clay, son of William Leslie and Karen Kristine (Ruse) Eyberg, was born February 16, 1974 at Red Oak, Iowa. The family lived in Villisca for a short time before moving to Tabor where Jamie attended school. Jamie was active in 4-H and held a job at the local grocery store. After his graduation from high school in 1992 he attended Iowa State University studying education, english and creative writing. While at ISU he met Ann Frances Russmann.

Ann Frances, daughter of Gary Lee and Jane Frances (Huse) Russmann was born February 24, 1976 at Harlan. She lived with her family in Avoca and started school at St. Joseph Elementary School in Neola. Ann then went to school in Avoca where she excelled in running in the track program. After graduating in 1994 she enrolled at Iowa State Universiy and met Jamie Eyberg.

Jamie and Ann were united in marriage on July 27, 1996 at Avoca. They moved to Neola and then Council Bluffs where they bought their first home and completed their university degrees. Jamie finished his bachelor's degree at University of Nebraska at Omaha because Ann transfered to Creighton University where she earned her Pharmacy degree in 2000. Jamie worked in constuction for others and independently. Ann worked as a pharmacist at Walmart in Council Bluffs and Carroll before starting at Carroll Clinic Pharmacy.

In 2001 they moved to an acreage south of Coon Rapids and into an old Sears Catalog home. When their daughter Kennedy Morgan was born they decided to double the size of their home and to match exactly the blueprint of the original home. They worked together to build and finish the interior of this addition. Observers would never detect, either in or out, the division between old and new.

When their son Brendan Douglas was born in 2007, the decision was made for Jamie to remain at home and care for the children. Family was of utmost importance to Jamie and Ann and they both worked hard at whatever project was before them.

On Saturday August 14, 2010, Jamie died as the result of an accident near their acreage south of Coon Rapids at the age of 36 years. Ann died the next day August 15, 2010, as a result of the same accident, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 34 years. Ann's gift of organs and tissue will benefit the lives of many others.

Preceding them in death are Ann's father Gary Russmann in 2008 and her grandparents Albert and Lisle Russmann and Bernard and Mary Huse.

They are survived by their children Kennedy and Brendan of Coon Rapids; Jamie's parents Bill Eyberg of Tabor and Karen Eyberg and special friend Ted Duchaine of Tabor; Ann's mother Jane Russmann of Avoca; Jamie's siblings and nieces and nephews: Melissa and husband Josh Gower and son Luke of Hannibal, MO; Jenna and husband Chris Esquibel and daughter Lannah of Overland Park, KS and Craig Eyberg and partner Mysti Brooks and their children Davian, Briar and Ronan of Council Bluffs; Jamie's grandparents Bud and Lorna Ruse of Randolph and Gene and Kathleen Eyberg of Atlantic; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Autopsy results awaited for Coon Rapids well deaths
COON RAPIDS Guthrie County authorities are awaiting autopsy results for a rural Coon Rapids couple who were apparently overcome by toxic gas in a water well on Saturday.

Jamie Eyberg, 36, went to check or work in a well across the street from his home at 1675 Chestnut Road sometime Saturday afternoon or evening, according to Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright.

Ann Eyberg, 34, found her husband unresponsive in the well and called 911 about 8:30 p.m.

Arganbright said Ann Eyberg apparently entered the well to help her husband and was overcome too.

Jamie Eyberg was pronounced dead at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Ann Eyberg was airlifted to a Des Moines hospital and died Sunday.

Arganbright described the deaths as "a mystery, a freak accident."

The cement well is approximately 6 feet deep and 4 feet wide. Jamie Eyberg removed a 22-inch cap to enter it.

Arganbright said the Eybergs have a new well at their house across the road. Jamie Eyberg had told the Guthrie County Sanitarian's Office he intended to keep the old well in case he raised livestock.

Daniel Dean Nelson, Dan to his friends, Danny to his family, was born November 2, 1950, the first of five children born to Gailard and Margie (Beckman) Nelson. Born in Harlan, raised on a farm outside Harlan, Dan graduated from HCHS in 1969. His reservation in heaven was secured on February 2, 1970, when he accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour.

Not many people find their soul-mate, the love of their life at age 15, but that is when Dan met Sandy Fischer. The first time he asked her for a date he said, "I don't have my driver's license yet, so could your mom bring you to the church for our roller skating activity?" Their love blossomed from that day and they were married July 30, 1971. They were blessed with four wonderful children, Corey Daniel, Carrie Diane, Cayley Darice, and Cassie Denae.

After Dan graduated from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, in 1974, they lived in West Des Moines where Dan pastored Valley Junction Baptist Church for six years. After living in Denver for four years, the family returned to Harlan in 1984 as Dan joined his father-in-law, Earl Fischer, in the cemetery lettering business. Dan loved his work and took pride in providing quality service and professional work. For 20 years Dan was active at First Baptist Church in Elk Horn, serving as deacon and choir director.

In addition to his devotion for God and family, Dan loved Southern Gospel music and John Deere tractors. Dan and Sandy travelled all over the Midwest to attend Southern Gospel concerts. Their highlight week for the past 10 years was attending the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. Dan enjoyed collecting anything John Deere, including several 2-cylinder tractors. He proudly drove them in parades and tractor rides. His favorite saying was, "trucks are red, tractors are green."

Dan loved being a dad and grandpa. He led by example as he taught them to love God and encouraged them to lead lives of high moral character. His kind, gentle spirit guided them to be respectful to authority and compassionate to the less fortunate. A tender heart allowed his tears to flow easily, showing them that being a man includes emotions, as well as integrity, consistency, determination and honesty. He would do anything he could to help anyone in need.

As a husband, no one could compare. He often surprised Sandy with unique, imaginative, and generous expressions of his love. His passionate love for her was so great that her co-workers wanted him to give their husbands classes on how to be a loving and devoted husband.

After a valiant 15 month battle with pancreatic cancer, fought on his terms, Dan's earthly life ended on September 15, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 59 years, 10 months and 13 days. His eternal life began at that time, and he is now in The Land of the Living.

Preceding him were his grandparents and infant brother. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Sandy Nelson of Harlan; four children, Corey (Amie) Nelson and Anna, Ellerie, Cade, and Brie of Harlan, Iowa, Carrie (Kevin) Petersen and Kendall, Kyle, Noah, and Ella of Elk Horn, Iowa, Cayley (Mike) Poggensee and Lucy, of Harlan, Iowa, and Cassie (John) Stiles and Isabelle of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his parents, Gailard and Margie Nelson of Littleton, Colorado; three siblings, Kathy (Steve) Reisner of Pomona, California, Lynn (Stephanie) Nelson of Morrison, Colorado and Nancy (Mike) Watkins of Antigua, Guatemala; parents-in-law, Earl and Helen Fischer of Harlan, Iowa; sister-in-law, Karla (Mike) Dillard of Solon, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Weihs, Greg (Memoriam)
Published in The Daily Nonpareil on 9/5/2010

A Remembrance of Greg Weihs

Our son and brother, Greg, was killed in a tragic automobile accident on August 21, 2010, at the age of 45. We want to share a few memories. Greg grew up in a family of five boys. The home farm was a place for lots of activities from hunting, fishing, and farm work. He was fun to be around and could be mischievous. He attended St. Mary's Catholic grade school and Harlan High School. From those schools he made lifelong friends and relationships. He loved the local area and decided to make his life here.

Greg loved to build things, work with wood and had many projects in High School. After graduation he continued working in construction and became a self-taught carpenter. He started his own company and operated a successful business in the community. He was an excellent craftsman and known for quality construction.

Greg loved his daughter, Brooke, with all his heart. She was the pride of his life. He enjoyed her especially as she grew into a young adult. His family was very important to him. He also loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Greg took satisfaction in being an active member of the community. He made friends easily and was very loyal to them. He was a generous person and would do anything for someone who asked his help.

Greg certainly had his own struggles, as we all do. The loss of a marriage is very difficult for everyone. Life can be hard and we have to support each other through good times and bad. The sum of who we are as a person is not determined by our difficulties; rather it is determined by our strength of character. Greg was that kind of man.

We will always love the person he was to us. We will miss him forever.
