Ahrenholtz, Linda Lou (Doonan) January 10, 1944 - January 9, 2007
Surnames:
Linda Lou Ahrenholtz -Age 62
Linda Lou Ahrenholtz was born on January 10, 1944, to Gaylord and Loretta (Abel)
Doonan at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. She was baptized and
confirmed at Monroe Chapel United Methodist Church near Walnut, Iowa. She
attended Monroe Township #1 and graduated from Harlan High School in 1962. Linda
continued her education at the University of Nebraska Nursing School in Omaha,
Nebraska and became a registered nurse.

Infants and Children) as Program Director at West Central Development in Harlan,
IA where she retired February 1, 2005.
Linda was a woman of many interests and talents. She was a member of the

Linda had no greater joy than to be with her family, especially her

strong will that helped her to fight 15 years of breast cancer with a positive
attitude. She was admired by most and was an encouraging example to many. She
enjoyed being a volunteer with the American Cancer Society. She will be missed
by all.
"In order for cancer to win it would have to be able to follow me beyond the
grave, and it can't. Because while I have cancer; cancer does not have me! The
disease can take my cells, but it cannot take my self. Cancer can have my hair
but it cannot have my heart. And it may be able to claim my breast, but it can
NEVER claim my spirit!" -Nicole Johnson, Women of Faith.
Linda moved to Urbandale, IA in November of 2005 to be closer to her family. She
enjoyed being able to see her grandchildren frequently and participate in their
activities. The last 5 weeks of her life she spent at the Mercy Hospice

Bluffs native dies in Douglas County Jail
The Daily Nonpareil
TIM ROHWER, Staff Writer
02/04/2007
OMAHA - Robyn Belt - found dead in Douglas County Jail Saturday morning -
loved music and had a gifted voice, performing at weddings and funerals, her
family said.
The Council Bluffs native also played the trombone in the Thomas Jefferson
High School band, sang in the school's swing choir and played softball
there.
She lived in Council Bluffs until moving to Persia three years ago.
Visitation will be Monday night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at
Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home with services at the funeral home
Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Belt, 34, leaves behind two "really great kids," a family spokesperson said,
one of whom has a 4.0 grade point average.
A memorial fund is to be set up at the Bank of the West in Council Bluffs to
help pay funeral expenses and for a trust for her two children, Nathanial
and Jodi, students at Tri-Center School.
Despite some problems in her life, Belt was trying to move forward in a
positive direction, her family said.
Belt died in Omaha's Douglas County Jail, where she had been held since Jan.
24 after being arrested for failure to appear and for controlled substances.
She was discovered on a cell floor, and officers began CPR just before 1
a.m.
Belt was pronounced dead after firefighters arrived.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office announced it would investigate, and an
autopsy has been ordered.
Under Nebraska law, a grand jury will look into her death because she was in
official custody.
Belt had been on methadone treatment for about five years, her family said,
to wean her off prescription drugs, but the Douglas County Jail's policy did
not allow that treatment to continue while she was incarcerated, her family
said.
If the treatment stops and there's no replacement drug, serious health
problems may occur, the spokesperson, who wished to be anonymous, said.
According to a report published in the Omaha World-Herald, a jail
spokeswoman said she couldn't discuss a specific inmate's medical condition
because of privacy laws. The inmates, though, are examined by a jail doctor,
who approves all prescriptions.
