Earl Peter Rasmussen
Earl Peter Rasmussen, 74, of Avoca, Iowa passed away on Sunday, March 20, 1988 at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Funeral mass was held Wednesday, March 23, 1988 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avoca, Iowa with Father Phillip Lawler officiating. Interment was in the Graceland Cemetery at Avoca, Iowa.
He attended country school west of Avoca until he started farming with his father.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Mehrens Faddis on March 3, 1902 at Avoca.
Dorothy and Earl operated the Rasmussen Nursing Home in Avoca until 1975. Earl continued with his farming until he had a heart attack in 1982 and he had to retire.
He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; Harry Rasmussen, and two sisters, Margaret Rasmussen and Edna Rasmussen.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Avoca, Iowa; one step-son, Elmer Faddis and his wife Ellen of Springfield, Illinois and their children; Aaron and Adam besides other relatives and many friends.
Honorary bearers were; Ernest Wendt, Joseph Torres, Gerald Lurenzen, Kenneth Osbahr, William Zimmerman, William True and Harold Nielsen.
Pall bearers were: Tim Picken, Al Nielsen, Dennis McCarthy, Daryl Bailey, Wilbert Brown and David McCarthy.

AVOCA -- Services for Earl Rasmussen of Avoca are at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avoca. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Avoca.
Rasmussen, 74, died Sun., March 20, 1988, at Clark son Hospital, Omaha, NE.
He was born Feb. 28, 1914, in Avoca, and married Dorothy Mehrens on March 20, 1962 in Avoca. He farmed south of Avoca, and he and his wife operated Rasmussen Nursing Home in Avoca from 1962-'75.
Surviving besides his wife are a stepson, Elmer Faddis of Springfield, IL., and two step grandchildren.
A wake service was held at 7 p.m., Tuesday at the Berthusen-Knutson Funeral Home in Avoca.
