CHAPTER VI -- PIONEERS (CONT'D)DOUGLAS.Probably Nelson Ward, who settled in Douglas in 1853 or 1854, was the first settler there. Others came very shortly after, such as Charles Kidd, Jonathan Wyland, F. G. Clarke, Lytle Woods, and others.
