Page 1THE COWARD LIST. NAMES OF Individuals Claiming Exemption As Aliens. We give this morning a list of those persons who have appeared before Commissioner Thompson, and claimed exemption on the ground of not being citizens of the United States. It now becomes the duty of every good citizen to endeavor to ascertain whether any of the persons in this list have ever voted in this country, and if so, to at once commence action for perjury. Here is the list:

Gluesing Fred Deutschman Fred Balke C Kusel Ernst Le Marinet John Jemmer Henry Lammer Peter Weise Carl Off John Miller DRAFT SICKNESS SPECIFIC - Our friend Dr. Frost. of the Board of Supervisors, who is sometimes rather inclined to be facetious, recommended the following prescription to be taken as directed:
5 grs. Patriotism;
1 gr Self Esteem;
1 1-2 gr. Resolution;
Dissolve in one pint of Spirits of ‘76;
Dose-Teaspoonful every time a trembling sensation is felt in the knees.SERVED 'EM RIGHT. - The City Council, last evening, passed a resolution, refusing to employ on the city works any person who claimed exemption from the draft under the plea that he was an alien. Those who seek protection from other powers must look to them for employment.
IMPORTANT TO SNEAKS. - We call particular attention to the following resolution passed unanimously by the city council yesterday:
Whereas, Persons who have taken out paper, declaring their intention of becoming citizens of the United States, and now residents of this county, have been before the Hon. John W. Thompson, U. S. Commissioner for enrolling persona subject to be drafted into the armies of the United States, in this county, and have claimed exemption from draft, on the ground that they were not citizens, claiming the protection of a foreign power, and
Whereas, It is our first duty in this trying hour of our country's peril to assist those who are willing to defend the Union, in preference to those who are not:
Therefore, be it Resolved by the City Council of the city of Davenport,
That no person, who has declared his intention of becoming a citizen of the U S., and has now or hereafter shall claim exemption from draft into the armies of the Union, shall be employed or paid to serve or labor for the city of Davenport during the continuance of the present war.
