Notes for Jacob Jørgensen Frost:
Baptized 14 September 1851. Confirmed 25 March 1866, markes "knowledge very good, behaviour also very good."
Jacob Frost immigrated to America about 1870 to avoid service in the Prussian army. According to his son, John D. Frost, Jacob came to Minnesota and worked on a farm to pay off his passage (the farmer having paid Jacob's passage). The farm may have been near the Iowa border town of St. Ansgar where it is believed Jacob had a sister. Jacob moved to Davenport, Iowa by 1877 and on 12 June 1882 became a naturalized US citizen at Muscatine, Iowa.
Davenport, IA city directories 1877-1913 list him as follows:

Scott County marriage records show John D. Brockmann was witness to the wedding of Hans Jensen Petersen and Cathrine Frost on 14 March 1874, performed by E. Gieseke, Pastor. (Brockmann was an uncle of Jacob's second wife, Elsa Marie Jeppesen. It is not known how Cathrine Frost might have been related to Jacob Frost but, because John D. Brockmann was a witness to her wedding, it is assumed they were probably related in some way).
and
Jacob Frost was a witness to the marriage of Wilhelm P.M. Koeppe and Celia Niemann, 19 March 1883, performed by B. Finger, J.P.
and
Jacob Frost was witness to the marriage of Andreas Andressen and Sophia Moeller on 16 April 1881, performed by B. Finger, J.P. (possibly Andreas was a relation to Jacob's first wife, Chatrine).
The 1870 Federal Census of Ward 1 Davenport, shows the following on page 175A:
HN 637 FN 695
Andressen, Det, age 48, laborer, born Sweden
Andressen, Marie, age 42, keeping house, born Sweden
HN 638 FN 696
Brockmann, Henry, age 23, carpenter, born Holstein
Brockmann, Christine, age 36, keeping house, born Sleswick
Brockmann, Johannes, age 2/12, born April, born in Iowa
While pure speculation, could the Andressen's listed in the above entry be the parents of or otherwise related to Jacob Frost's first wife? His first wife's surname was Andressen and the Brockmann's (who were next door to these Andressens) were related to Jacob Frost's second wife, Elsa Marie Jeppesen.

Owned the family farm at Snurom from 1844 until his death on 11 November 1852. On 10 October 1859 his widow, Catharina Dorothea, transferred ownership of the farm to their eldest son, Jørgen Jørgensen Frost.
Notes for Catharina Dorothea Hønborg:
After the death of her husband Jørgen Jørgensen Frost she apparently married Christian August Jepsen. He is shown in the 1855 census as age 48, a widower, born at Bro, parish of Kettinge.
Children of Jørgen Frost and Catharina Hønborg are:
i. Jørgen Jørgensen Frost, born April 07, 1831 in Asserballe Parish, Island of Als, Duchy of Slesvig; married Dorothea Paulsen; born Abt. 1834 in Tandsholm, Tandslet Parish, Island of Als, Slesvig.
Notes for Jørgen Jørgensen Frost:

vi. Catharine Jørgensen Frost, born Abt. 1842.
Notes for Catharine Jørgensen Frost:

vii. Hans Jørgensen Frost, born December 28, 1842 in Asserballe Parish, Island of Als, Slesvig; died July 04, 1914 in Scott County, Iowa; married Karen 1878 in Island of Als; born December 08, 1855; died December 30, 1928 in Mercy Hopspital, Davenport, Scott County, Iowa.
Notes for Hans Jørgensen Frost:
His obituary from 5 July 1914 (Davenport Democrat and Leader) says he lived at RR#2, Scott County, was engaged in truck farming and died at home. It also says he married Karen in 1878 on Als and came to Scott Conty in 1899 (Karen's obituary says 1890). The 1890 date may be correct since the Davenport City Directory has the following entries for him:
1892-93-res 318 LeClaire
1898-99-res 913 W. 4th, work at "Glucose Co."
He and Karen didn't appear to have had any children.

His obituary says he came to Davenport at age 19 and first engaged in business as a contracting carpenter, later engaging in the "commission business" in which he engaged for 45 years. The obituary refers to him as the "Onion King of Scott County" and says "In the commission business Mr. Brockmann was credited with handling more onions and potatoes than any other dealer in the middle west. These he shipped to all parts of the world, particularly the red globe onion which thru his shipments had gained a worldwide reputation for richness and flavor."

Notes for John Dietrick Brockmann:
His obituary lists him as having been born in "Hohenwestedt, Holstein, Germany" and further states he lived there "until coming of age and learning the cabinet maker's trade, which he followed on first coming to Davenport in 1865." The obituary says he first settled in New York but came to Davenport in the same year, following his trade as a cabinet maker until 1870 - working in the carpenter shop of Victor Huot, and in 1870 he opened a grocery business on the southeast corned of 4th and Marquette, continuing in that business until 1890. In that year he sold the business to "to devote himself to his larger financial interestes, having been one of the organizers of the Iowa National Bank the preceding year." He became chairman of the board of directors of that bank upon the death of A. P. Doe in the fall of 1910. He was also a member of, and for several terms, president of, the board of park commissioners. The obituary says he died at home, 1043 W. 5th Street. (The Davenport Democrat and Leader, 18 June 1911)
