The subject of this sketch, although a modest and unassuming woman, is noted for her strength of character and superior business ability. She was interested financially and as a partner in the establishment of what is known as the French cheese factory of Davenport, the product of which has gained wide celebrity. This is one of three cheese factories in this country which are engage in the manufacture of a kind of cheese formerly imported entirely from France and noted for its excellence and superior qualities.
The idea of establishing this factory originated with Mrs. Littig. It was not only through her individual effort that the enterprise was inaugurated, but largely through her energetic and effective solicitation that the cooperation was secured which supplied the necessary capita for putting the factory into successful operation. She also had much to do with the conduct and management of the business, which has made the enterprise an unqualified success. Mrs. Littig has four children living, their names being as follows: Laura R., John A., Louis A. and Henry C. Littig. One daughter, Julia N. Littig, died when four and a half years ago.
