    The subject of this sketch is one of the leading farmers of Sheridan Township. He was born in Holstein, Germany, January 18, 1836, and came to America with his father, Claus Jamp, who came direct to Davenport, in 1817. In 1858 he moved to Sheridan Township and the same year was united in marriage to Miss Lena A. Klindt, a native of Germany. To them were born six children, four of whom are living.

     Mr. Lamp has been a successful business man and now owns a farm of seven hundred acres. He is a sagacious farmer and stock grower, and a citizen of local prominence.
