1955

HERE ARE THE members of the famous 1912-1913 basket ball team. Front row: Lester Spitzer, Ozro Kramer, Lyle K. McLaughlin. Standing: Louis Spindler, Walter McQuigg, Henry Spindler, William Sipes and Carl Ellis.
SCHALLER HAD good-looking basketball girls in years past, too. This is the 1913 Woman's Basketball team. Left to right are Millie Tanner, Audrey Strahn, Hazel Speaker, Elvira McKinney, Inez Ohlsen, Irma Schaefer and Doris Gould. Notice the bloomers and middy blouses which make up outfits. Quite a change from those of today!
This team played sometime in between 1924 to 1928. Polo games were played in Wandrey's pasture west of Schaller. The riders from left to right: Lewis Bennett, Paul Hase, Asa Currie, Glen Challman, Floyd Stevens, Elmer Bennett, Guy Bloyer and Chester Currie.
Here's a complete Stille baseball team, with some to spare. Members of Schaller's baseball playingest family got together in 1955 for this photo which shows a husky aggregation of baseball talent. Front row (left to right) Kenneth, Russell, Kent, Howard, Don and Marvin. Back row: Daryl, Will, Jim, Arthur, Roy, Richard and Duane. Daryl and Duane are sons of Herman Stille, Jim and Roy are sons of Art Stille. Kent is a third-generation Schaller baseball player, son of Jim Stille. The six other young men are all sons of Will Stille.
