OBITUARY ~ MARION A. WITHERS
January 23, 1871 ~ October 21, 1954

Marion A. Withers, eldest child of William F. and Margaret E. Withers, was born Jan. 23, 1871, at Champaign IL and departed this life October 21, 1954 at the age of 83 years. When he was twelve years of age he moved with his parents to Ringgold County IA where he grew to manhood.

On April 15, 1895 he was united in marriage to Narsissa Rush at Mt. Ayr, where their home was established on a farm. After 3 years of farming they moved to Des Moines where he served as a railway clerk until his retirement after 30 years of service. To this union were born two daughters, Arla V., and Irene who died in infancy.

In early life he was converted and joined the Advent Christian Church. When he moved to Des Moines he joined the Simpson Methodist church where he served as one of the trustees until his return to Mt. Ayr where he joined the local church and remained a faithful attendant as long as his health permitted.

He was preceded in death by his two daughters, his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Funkhouser and Mrs. Edna Thompson of Mt. Ayr and Mrs. Leona Gallaugher of Billings MT, two brothers, Charlie A. of Des MOines and Floyd J. of Ottumwa, a host of nieces nephews and friends.

Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mt. Ayr IA.
