Vida Florence Wilson was born March 3, 1918, in Clearfield, Iowa to Wallace I and Loretta Gayle Leonard. She passed away Feb. 14, 1996, in Mercy Hospital, Corning, at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 14 days.

Vida lived all of her life in the Clearfield area. She graduated from Clearfield High School in 1935. She was a member of the Clearfield United Methodist Church.

On August 25, 1938, she was united in marriage to John Randall Wilson. They lived their 48 years of marriage in the Lenox and Clearfield communities. To this union were born nine children. Vida was preceded in death by Randall, her parents, and an infant son, Richard Lee.

Survivors are her children and grandchildren; daughter Gayle Rhea (Wilson) Hawley, husband Marlyn of Independence, Mo., and children Doug Hawley and family of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Annette Hawley of Blue Springs, Mo.; Daughter Claire Louise (Wilson) Ellis, husband David of Fairfield, Iowa, and children Diana of Williamsburg, Iowa, and Susan of Ames; son Doyle Edward, wife Linda and children, Leslie and family of Shawnee, Kansas, and Katherine of Ames; son John Randall Jr., his wife Pat and children Janie and Joni of Clearfield; son Wayne Leonard, wife Carolyn, and children Jody and family of Lee's Summit, Mo., Bobbie and husband of Columbia, S.C., and Kristi of Clearfield; son Haldean Byerly, wife Cheryl and children Tanya and Brent of Carlisle, Iowa; son Lyle Frederick, wife Lisa and children Bradley, Debra, Cacey and Kylie of Clearfield; and son James Roger, wife Donna and children Lori, Rachelle, Traci and Nick of Creston.

Vida spent the first three years after high school teaching school. After their marriage, her and Randall devoted their lives to raising their children.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 17 at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield with Rev. Al Rusk officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Fred Scott and Mrs. Danny Kinder.

Casket bearers were Doyle Wilson, John Wilson, Wayne Wilson, Haldean Wilson, Fred Wilson and James Wilson.

Honorary pall bearers were Marlyn Hawley, David Ellis, Doug Hawley, Jody Longfellow, John Gagliano, Brent Wilson, Nick Hardisty, Troy Johnson, Bradley Wilson, and Tyler Hardisty.

Interment was at Clearfield Cemetery. Wilson-Watson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
