OBITUARY ~ HOWARD FRANCIS WILLIAMS

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clute received word Friday that their son-in-law, Howard Williams had passed away at a hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich. He had visited here just last week. His home was in Detroit, Mich. and he was a former resident of Bedford.

Howard Francis Williams was born near Terre Haute, Illinois on May 3, 1903 and passed away suddenly at the Bronson hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan on June 2, 1950 at the age of 47 years and one month. He was the second son of Harvey M. and Bertha Stout Williams.

After the death of his mother, he came to make his home with Alpha and Stella Clark and graduated from the Clearfield high school in 1922. He began his career with the railroad after graduation and was traveling representative for the Chicago, Northwestern Railway at the time of his death.

On May 30, 1925, he was united in marriage to Pauline Clute of Clearfield, who was with him at the time of his passing. They have spent most of their married life in Detroit, Michigan. To this union two daughters, Phyllis Ann and Freda Jeanette, were born. In May, 1935, at the age of four years and nine months, Jeanette passed away and is interred in the Clearfield cemetery.

Howard was a kind and loving husband, an affectionate father and a friend to all who knew him. He was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church of Highland Park, Michigan, the Woodman Lodge of Clearfield, Iowa, and the Waverly Lodge of the Masonic Order, Detroit, Michigan.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline, of Detroit, his daughter and son-in-law, Captain and Mrs. O. R. Dinsmore who were unable to attend the services because of illness; his foster parents, Alpha and Stella Clark of Clearfield, Iowa; one brother, Glenn, of Atlantic, Iowa, many relatives and a host of personal and business friends who mourn his passing.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Clearfield on June 5 with Rev. C.E. McPhernon officiating. Mrs Thelma Richey sang ”In the Garden" and "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me." The Masonic Commital services were held at the grave. Those acting as pallbearers were Leo Wilson, Jack Whitmore, Art Conaway, Harry Beggs, Lawrence Hartman and Eddie Richey.
