OBITUARY ~ JOHN HENRY SUDDUTH

John Henry SUDDUTH, age 88, was born March 5, 1923 to Henry Otis and Clara Helena (ACKERMAN) SUDDUTH in Nevada, Iowa. He
attended and graduated from Nevada high school in 1941. He joined the United States Marine Corp on December 11, 1942 and
served his country during World War II until his honorable discharge on May 10, 1946. John married Patricia Ann
CHRISTIAN. They were blessed with two children, Fran and Rick. He later moved back to Nevada from California. While
working at the Ames Fruit and Grocery, he met and later married Barbara Mae CPOSE. They had one child, Cathy Sue. John
adopted Barbara's three children, Gerald D., Jimmy D. and Dale Louise. Barbara's other son, Danny, did not wish to be
adopted. After retirement, John and Barbara moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas. After 31 years of marriage, Barbara died
in June of 1990. Later John met and married his third wife, Maxine GABRIEL. They were married for 13 years before her
death in March of 2004. John continued to live in his town home until November 2010, when he moved to the Maple Ridge
Assisted Living in Mount Ayr, Iowa. John passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011, from congestive heart failure
and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at Mount Ayr Health Care Center. John enjoyed fishing, bowling, his family
and going to church. He was a member of the United Lutheran Church and a Stephen's minister in Bella Vista, Arkansas.
He enjoyed visiting with his care receivers. He also enjoyed and spent many hours watching televised sports.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Darlene CARLSON, Agnes HOPKES and infant Mary; wives, and
grandson, Allen ADAIR. Survivors include his children, Rick and Maureen SUDDUTH of Bellerica, Massachusetts, Fran and
Allan SHULTZ of Knoxville, Iowa, Cathy Sue and Gary STONE of Nevada, Iowa, Dale Louise and Dago MARCHELLINO of Carroll,
Iowa, Jim and Kathy SUDDETH of Springfield, Illinois, Jerry and Marilyn SUDDETH of Mount Ayr, Iowa and Danny JACOBSON of
Athens, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. Memorial graveside
services were held in Bella Vista, Arkansas on Saturday, October 1, 2011. Arrangements were through the
Slade – O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni, Iowa.
