Death of Grandma Stranahan.

Eliza Jane CHAMBERS was born in Greene county Ohio, March 5th, 1825. When five years old she moved to
Carroll county, Ind., and lived there till 1856. In 1849 she was married to John STRANAHAN, who died in this
city Jan. 15, 1908, and they moved to this county in 1857. To them eight children were born, five daughters and three
sons, son sone and one daughter died in infancy. Mrs. STRANAHAN united with the M.E. Church at Pittsburg, Ind., in early
life and has been a good Christian woman during her life, passing away at the home of her daughters, Mrs. Mary E. PARKER,
this mroning, Thursday, April 23, 1908, to join her husband and receive the reward promised those who die trusting in
the Lord. No arrangements have been made at this writing for the funeral services. LATER - The funeral services will
be held from the M.E. church to-morrnw (sic), Friday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. E. HARDAWAY.

DEATH of MRS. JOHN STRANAHAN

Mrs. Eliza Jane STRANAHAN, the wife of the late John STANAHAN, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary E.
PARKER, on Thursday, April 23, 1908. Her maiden name was CHAMBERS. Mrs. STANAHAN was born in Greene county, Ohio,
March 5, 1825, having passed the 83d year of her age. She was moved by her parents, at five years of age, from Ohio, to
Carroll county, Indiana, where she grew to womanhood. In 1849 she was united in marriage to John STRANAHAN, and in
1856 the family moved to Iowa. They soon came to Ringgold county and for many years their home was a little south of
Mt. Ayr. Recent years have been spent in town. To them eight children were born, five daughters and three sons, a son and
daughter having died in infancy. Mrs. STRANAHAN united with the Methodist church early in life at Pittsburg, Ind.
Soon after coming to Mt. Ayr she united with the church here and has all the while maintained a good profession. She
was tenderly regarded as a 'mother in Israel.' Her children rise and call her blessed. The funeral was conducted this
afternoon from the Methodist church as was conducted by Rev. W. E. HARDAWAY.
