OBITUARY - SHIRLEY SUE (LAIR) STEPHENS

Shirley STEPHENS, 66, of Clearfield died April 26, 2004, at her home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 30, at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield. The Rev. Len GARRISON will
officiate the service. Burial will be in Clearfield Cemetery. Open visitation will be noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at
Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church with the family present 7 to 8
p.m., both in Clearfield. Memorials may be directed to the Mount Ayr branch of Hospice of Central Iowa.
Mrs. STEPHENS, daughter of Mildred B. (SHANNON) and Guy F. LAIR, was born September 29, 1937, in Kellerton. She graduating
from Mount Ayr High School in 1956 as valedictorian. She worked as a stenographer for Clyde LESAN and W. B. CINNING Company
two years. On Jan. 3, 1959, she married Ivan C. STEPHENS at the Christian Church in Mount Ayr. She was a homemaker and
member of the United Methodist Church in Clearfield.
Survivors include her husband, Ivan STEPHENS of Clearfield; two daughters, Shanda (husband Bill) SPICER and Sherry
(husband John) WININGER, all of Smithville, Mo.; a son, Jeff (wife Diane) STEPHENS of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Donald
(wife Helen) LAIR of Kellerton; brother-in-law, Wayne SPRIGGS of Greenfield; two sisters-in-law, Juanita LAIRD of
Beaconsfield and Enid (husband Bob) HUEGEL; and six grandchildren, Brett SPICER, Jordan and Savanah STEPHENS and Rya, Kyle
and Katelyn WININGER.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, John Tyler WININGER; three brothers, Gerald, Herman and Kenneth
LAIR; three sisters, Evelyn OGIER, Alice WICKER and Beverly SPRIGGS; two brothers-in-law, Ralph OGIER and Donald WICKER;
and a sister-in-law, Dorothy LAIR.
