Elda May (CLINE) SHAFFER was born November 4, 1888 at Kahoka, Mo., and passed away at Clearview Home, Clearfield, Iowa, on November 1, 1988, at the age of 99 years, 11 months and 27 days. She was the daughter of William Henry and Minnie CLINE.

She married Edward SHAFFER on August 26, 1908 at Kahoka, Mo. To this union was born one daughter, Nellis. She lived most of her life in the Clearfield and Diagonal areas. She was a loving mother and grandmother and homemaker. She especially enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She entered the nursing home in May, 1980.

Survivors include Nellie and son-in-law, Clarence AUSTIN of Diagonal; four grandchildren, Charles and Mary of Texas; Eddie and Bessie and Tom and Liane of Diagonal, and Virginia and Charles MORRIS of Boyden, Iowa; one brother, Ray, of Wisconsin, and one sister, Nella BONNIFIELD of Des Moines, Iowa; also, 13 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, on July 20, 1957; her parents; three brothers and three sisters.
