Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

Elaine SCHLAPIA, 83, died Saturday evening, Dec. 1, 1984 at the Nodaway Nursing Home in Maryville, Mo. after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Grace Elaine SCHLAPIA was born in Fairbury, Nebraska, the daughter of John C. and Christina KUJATH. She is survived by her husband of 62 years - Leonard G. SCHLAPIA; two daughter - Iris Elaine STEPHENS of Maryville, Mo., and Eileen Attie DETHLOFF of Fenton, Michigan; one son, Delmar Dean SCHLAPIA of Algona, Iowa, and a sister, Nora BAKER of Wichita, Kansas.

One son, Lowell Leonard, preceded her in death in 1972.

She was a member of the Baptist church and attended the Regular Baptist church in Mount Ayr as long as her health permitted.

Other survivors include 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, who will miss her greatly.

Rev. Donn ARMS and Rev. Leonard STEPHENS conducted services held at the Mount Ayr Regular Baptist Church Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 1:30 p.m. Music was by Carol BARKER, Diane GOOLD, Baverly KLOCKO and Susanne STAMPER.

Casketbearers were Tim KLOCKO, Gary SCHLAPIA, Daryl SCHLAPIA, Larry STAMPER, David SCHLAPIA and Clarence GOOLD. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
