Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

Lloyd Emery SALTZMAN, son of Emery and Mabel (LAIRD) SALTZMAN, was born in July 10, 1898 in Ringgold County, Iowa, and passed away on March 3, 1988 in Hawaiian Gardens, California, having reached the age of 89 years, seven months and 22 days.

In 1919, he was married to Vera TURNER. To this union four children were born. On August 28, 1948, he was united in marriage to Georgietta KELLEY, and to this union one daughter was born.

He moved to California in 1950 and worked as a meat cutter until his retirement in 1963.

He was precedied in death by his parents; one infant son, Kenneth; a sister, Leona BEEN, and one brother, LeRoy.

Leaving to mourn his passing are his wife, Georgietta; one son, L. J. (wife Ruth) SALTZMAN of State Center, Iowa; three daughters: Virginia Lee (husband John STARR of Eldora, Iowa; Dorothy (husband John) PEARSON of Kansas City, Mo.; and, Patricia (husband David) SHINDLEDECKER of Morena Vally, California; nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

We stood beside your bed -- how pale you were and tired. How slow and labored every breath. You gave no sign, you could not see, yet still we felt You'd waited for our retun -- you knew that we were there. Then that last long breath, as a sigh of one laying down a burden too long carried, and you were gone. But in going -- that smile, your look of wonder, of happiness as though you beheld Heaven opening with host of welcoming angels and loved ones coming to meet you. The pallor of long illness left your face, a glow of health replaced the ravages of your sufferings. Laughing and crying we held each other, saying "How beautiful he looks, so happy, how much at peace." This was your precious last gift to us -- your farewell; this glimpse with you into eternity.

After a illness, God looked down ans saw his body was tired, his mind weary, so he did what He thought was best. He put his arms around him and took him home to rest.

Services were held March 8, 1988, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home at Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Doris KINTON. Musica was provided by Mrs. Merrill PERRY, Mrs. Gary BICKERS and Mrs. Roger TRULLINGER.

Casketbearers were John STARR, George STARR, John PEARSON, Lloyce SALTZMAN, Todd SHINDLEDECKER and Darvid SHINDLEDECKER. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
