OBITUARY ~ MARY OLLIE (STEDMAN) RUSH
November 23, 1873 ~ January 28, 1949

Mary Ollie Stedman, eldest daughter of J. S. and Delia Stedman, was born Nov. 23, 1873 in Guthrie County IA and departed this life Jan. 28, 1949 at the age of 75 years. When a small girl she moved with her parents to Ringgold County IA where she grew to womanhood.

On Nov. 29, 1896, she was united in marriage with Peter Rush and to this union were born seven children: Orville, who died in infancy, Mrs. Hattie Jackson of Red Oak, IA, Mrs. Avis Hetzel of Mt. Ayr; Mrs Louise Peckham and Mrs. Delia Doser of Melba, ID, Mrs. Lucille Dufresne of Cheverly MD, and Arthur L., who gave his life for his country in WWII. A step-daughter, Mrs. Fairy Lawrence, preceded her in death.

Early in life Mrs. Rush was converted and joined the Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church of which she remained a faithful member until her death. After moving to Mt. Ayr she and her family attended the Methodist Church where Mrs. Rush was always glad to be of service in any way possible. No wife could have been more devoted to her husband, no mother more loving with her children, grandchildren and loved ones.

She leaves to mourn her passing the six children, 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Addison, Los Angeles CA; Mrs. Hattie Geiger and Mrs. Fannie Seaton, Delphos IA, and a brother Leonard B. Stedman, Mitchell SD.

Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mt. Ayr IA.
