Edna G. RONG departed this life on October 28, 2012 at Clearview Home in Clearfield, Iowa at the age of 98 years, two months and 19 days. Edna was born the daughter of Walter and Callie (GRIFFITH) BAILEY on August 9, 1914 at the family home in rural Clearfield. She attended country school and graduated from Clearfield high school with the class of 1931.

Growing up, summers were full of visiting relatives and friends with her family which included brothers Gale, Cecil and Addis and a sister, Helen; all of whom predeceased her. She was united in marriage to Charles Wilbur RONG on July 4, 1935 in Indianola, Iowa. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 1995.

Edna and Wib made their home in Clearfield with the exception of a period from 1941 to 1945 when they lived in Vancouver, Washington.

Edna, over the years, worked at Rong's Variety Store, Hy-Vee Food Store, Richey's Drug Store and as a bookkeeper at Rong's Pioneer Seed corn Business. She was active in the Methodist church and Eastern Star. Her real joy was her husband, family and home.

With Wilbur's passing in 1996, Edna continued to reside in the family home in Clearfield until she entered the Clearview Home in 2003.

She was preceded in death by herhusband; son, Bill RONG in 2009; parents, and siblings.

Left to celebrate her life include her daughter, Jane and husband Roger BELL of Atlantic, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Janice RONG of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Scott RONG and wife Dawn, John RONG and companion Hillary LOCKARD, Brett BELL, Lisa HOLLERAN and husband Larry and Clint BELL and companion Tracy HELVIE; great-grandchildren, John RONG, Rebecca RONG, Rachel RONG, Zoe BRINKLEY and Sophia BELL, and other relatives and friends.

A memorial fund has been established to the Clearfield United Methodist Church. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Clearfield was in charge of the arrangements.

Services were held at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, with Rev. Shurmaine McALPINE officiating. Musicians included Patty PARRISH and Chantelle JENNETT. Casket bearers included Scott RONG, John RONG, Brett BELL, Lisa BELL, Clint BELL and Gary BAILEY.

Edna was laid at rest in the Clearfield Cemetery at Clearfield.
