OBITUARY - CLINTON (WHITEY) DALTON RICE

Clinton (Whitey) DALTON RICE, the third child of the late Lawrence and Dency RICE, was born August 13, 1919, and passed
away at the age of 61 years, two months and 22 days on Nov. 4, 1980 at East Pine, British Columbia, Canada. He
graduated from Ellston High School, Ellston, Iowa in 1937 and attended Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. He was a
veteran of the United States Air Force in World War II and was a member of good standing of the American Legion in which
he was Post Commander in 1952, was a Mason of Faith Lodge #179 A.F. and A.M. of Mount Ayr and was a member of the United
Methodist Church of Mount Ayr. He was a very active business man, land developer and farmer in the United States and
Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents and one half-brother, Howard. Along with his devoted wife Mabel, he
leaves to cherish his memories his sons, Clinton Thane, Gary Dean and his daughter-in-law, Merill, their daughters,
Brenda and Gerry CERITON, Renee and Robert READ, Sondi and Tamara, and three great-grandchildren of Dawson Creek,
British Columbia, Canada. Also surviving are his brothers - Pat and Ila RICE of Kellerton, Iowa; Russell and Marjory
RICE of Jacksonville, Florida; Robert and Audrey RICE of Des Moines, Iowa; Garey and Mary Ellen RICE of Rapid City,
South Dakota; his sisters - Eleanor HUNTER of Springfield, Mo.; Phyllis and Lavon GREY of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Tyke and
Bill WYSS of Glendora, California; Patricia and Dennis KING of Salem, Oregon; Neola and Darrell LAWOSKE of Albany,
Oregon; several nieces and nephes and a host of friends by whom he will be sincerely missed.
Entering Eternity He has finished life's course, In this period called time. God has called your
loved one home To dwell in that fairest clime - Life's race was run with courage By this man, respected by all -
And he ansered, "It is finished," When he heard God's parting call. Parting from this lief's challenge
The challenge he faced and won - Now to be in blessed eternity, With the Savior, God's Own Son. Amen. . .
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Lynn POTTER at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 1980 at the Moutn Ayr United Methodist Church.
Organist was Mrs. Robert THOMAS, and vocalist, Arlen HUGHES. Casketbearers were Lee FARIS, Carl RIGGS, Nick DUROS, Roy
PIMER, William FRENCH and Dale CAMPBELL. Honorary casket bearers were Ames CROSS, Eldon MAIN, John FAUST, Frank CLARKE,
Billie FINCH and Ward REYNOLDS. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr. Rhoades-Wilson Service was in charge.
