John PAYNE, 86, of Diagonal, passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 1988, at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

He was born Sept. 7, 1902, in Hennessey, Okla., the son of Franklin and Izetta (GRABILL) PAYNE.

He was a retired farmer, having made his home in the Sharpsburg and Diagonal areas after moving to the area from Oklahoma.

Mr. PAYNE is survived by his step-mother, Lois PAYNE of Mount Ayr; a sister, Maxine and husband, Hugh McCALL of Lenos; two brothers, Roger of Diagonal and Ray PAYNE of Mesa, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with the Rev. Kenneth DORMAN officiating. Burial was at the Clearfield Cemetery.
