Verbal Eugene Morey, son of Belle and Russ Morey, was born on a farm north of
Mt Ayr on June 3, 1900 and passed away quietly in his sleep at home on
July 27, 1963.
When a small boy, his parents moved to Oklahoma where they lived for two
years. They then came to a farm in Taylor County, where Gene grew to
manhood.
He joined the Clearfield Baptist Church as a young man, later transferring his
membership to the Clearfield U. P. Church where he was a member until his
death.
On November 10. 1926, he was united in marriage to Hazel Barnhill. They
established their home on a farm south of Clearfield. To this union was born 3
daughters and one son: Verla Deene Monk, Kirksville, Mo., Norma Jeanne Beggs,
Clearfield, Leona Mae Mahoney, Des Moines, Richard of Clearfield.
Because of ill health, Gene and Hazel moved to the present home on February
19, 1960.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel on June 4, 1963. Since that time
his son and daughter-in-law, Dick and Jeannine, have made a home
for him in the Clearfield residence.
Also preceding him in death were his father, mother, and one brother.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his 4 children, 14 grandchildren,
his mother-in-law, Mrs Amy Barnhill, 2 brothers, Harry and Russell all
of Clearfield, 2 sisters, Mrs Bernice Beatty, Seymour, Mrs Avis Alexander,
Gravity, a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held in the Clearfield U. P. Church on Monday, July 29,
Rev. Herbert Phillips and Rev. Harvey Ruegsegger officiating. Interment in the
Clearfield cemetery.
