Harold Lee Larsen was born to Chris and Fern (Quartz) Larsen at Loup City, NE
on October 5, 1928. He was welcomed by three older brothers, Glenn, Orrin and
Richard and was later joined in the family of sons by brothers Boyd and James.
Harold attended country schools in Nebraska. In 1941 the family moved to
Westboro, Missouri where he attended Westboro school. In 1943 they moved to
the Clearfield area.
Harold graduated from Clearfield High School in 1947. The following August he
was united in marriage to Priscilla Aukland. To this union were horn two
children, Randall Lee and Pamela Joyce.
The love of his life was his farming. He enjoyed this the most through the
years he farmed with his father and brothers. He also enjoyed his years of
crop adjusting with Farmers Mutual Insurance Company.
Harold was stricken with rheumatic fever in 1954. Although suffering from
arthritis the remainder of his life, no one ever heard him complain.
He belonged to the Clearfield United Methodist Church and the Clearfield Lions
Club.
Harold was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, Chris and Fern
Larsen, brothers Orrin and Richard, his great niece, Monica Joyce Longfellow
and his father-in-law Ben Aukland.
Left to mourn his passing are his children, Randall and Pamela, his brothers,
Glenn, wife Helen, Boyd, wife Cleota, James, wife Eleanor, his sisters-in-law
Dorothea Larsen and Darlene Larsen, his aunt Ruth Adams and his mother-in-law
Effie Aukland. He also leaves a large family of loving nieces and nephews. His
friends were numbered by his acquaintances.
He was a quiet man who never had an enemy.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 29, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. at the United
Methodist Church in Clearfield, Iowa with the Rev. Alan Rusk officiating.
Music was provided by Patty Parrish, Carol Ann Kinder, and Kathy Nelson.
Casketbearers were Kenneth Larsen, Bill Larsen, Ray Dean Larsen, Kory
Thompson, Art Garrett, Dick Longfellow, Jerry Horton, Keith Larsen, and
Kendall Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers were Lloyd Drake, Melvin Doolittle, Paul England, Ivan
Bennett, Bill Brownrigg, Harold Moore, Delbert Routh, and Alvin Barker.
Interment was at the Clearfield Cemetery at Clearfield, IA.
Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
