OBITUARY ~ ALBERTA FAY "TOOTS" (HALL) MOYES

Alberta Fay MOYES (Toots), daughter of Cora Amanda and Albert Milton HALL, was born November 23, 1926 in Benton, Iowa. She departed this life June 20, 2011 in Petaluma, California. She was formally of Thornton, Colorado. Last year she moved to California with her son and family when they were transferred from Colorado.

Alberta retired from the Thornton, Colorado school district. She was an outgoing, fun loving lady. Alberta enjoyed traveling, skiing, hiking, gardening, fishing and camping.

Alberta has always supported the military. During WWII, she wanted to do her part, so at only 16 years old, she put school on hold for two years. She left home to work making ammunition for the troops overseas.

She always had a soft spot in her heart for animals. She was known to chase a stray down the highway to catch, feed and then give it a good home.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George MOYES; daughter, Cherlyn JOHNSTON; parents, Cora and Albert HALL; sister,Viola NICKLES; brothers, Albert Ray (twin), John Edward, Lowell Junior and Gerald HALL, and brothers-in-law, Howard NICKLES, Hugh MARLOW, Lowell WATSON and Robert SCHMIDT.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Eugene (Dana) MOYES of Novato, California; daughter, Carolyn WALSH of Craig, Colorado; grandchildren, Samuel and James of California and Joseph, Montie, Christina, Laurence, Laura and Joann of Colorado; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; five sisters, Eloise SCHMIDT of Sumter, South Carolina, Oveda WATSON of Ellston, Iowa, Lovena (Richard) PIERICK of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Glenda MARLOW of Ellston, Iowa and Linda Gayle (Donald) LILJEBLAD of Penn Valley, California, and sisters-in-law, Estelle HALL of Mount Ayr, Iowa and Arnita Gail HALL of Sumter, South Carolina.

Memorial services will be at10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Rev. Terry ROBERTS officiating. She will be buried in the Benton cemetery next to her twin brother, Albert (Buster) HALL.
