OBITUARY - VERA K. MOREY

Vera Korrean MOREY, daughter of Margaret Irene (MADOLE) GOODALE and Bard Weaver GOODALE, was born May 1, 1914 in Chicago,
Illinois. Her dad graduated from Moody Bible College the day she was born and the family returned to Diagonal, Iowa. Vera
grew up in Diagonal and was blessed with musical talent on every level. She and her sister played the piano at the silent
movies in Diagonal. Vera had a beautiful voice and could play nearly any instrument. Vera graduated from Diagonal high
school. She furthered her education by attending one year of college at Simpsonand a short year at Maryville State
College to receive her teaching degree. Vera taught country school for the next few years. On May 25, 1940, she was united in
marriage to Russell Lee MOREY. They moved to and farmed near Clearfield for the next 34 years. She became a farm wife
and worked hard alongside Russell on the farm. Vera would later become the activities director at Clearview Home in Clearfield,
a position she held for 29 years. Vera became an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Clearfield. After the closing
of the Presbyterain Church, Vera transferred her membership, talents and efforts to the Christian Church in Clearfield.
Vera was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crafts in her spare time In August of 1974, Vera and Russell moved into Clearfield
where Vera would live the remainder of her life.She was known for caring of someone throughout her life. Russell passed
away on June 10, 1986. Vera maintained her own home and after a brief stay in the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr,
she passed away on May 13, 2010 at the age of 96 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters,
Violet NEVILLE and Margaret LePERA, and a brother, Charles GOODALE. Survivors include her son, Russell W. MOREY and his
wife, Mary Ann, of Macomb, Illinois; two grandsons, Russell J. MOREY and wife Becky of Mount Pleasant, Iowa and Douglas
L. MOREY and wife Heather of Houston, Texas; two great-grandsons, Christian and Joshua MOREY of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; one
sister, Geraldine EMERSON of Corning, Iowa; and nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial are to the library and Christian
Church, both in Clearfield. Arrangements were by Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home of Clearfield. Services were conducted
at the Christian Church in Clearfield on Tuesday, May 18th at 2:00 p.m. with Sherry WILEY officiating. Musicians included
Becky NELSON and Mary Ellen SPURRIER. Casket bearers were Russell J. MOREY, Douglas L. MOREY, Larry ENGLAND, Jack
BEGGS, Craig BAKER and John PIRTLE. Vera was laid at rest in the Clearfield Cemetery, Clearfield.
