OBITUARY - LELAND McMATH, Clearfield
CLEARFIELD - Leland McMATH, 96, of Clearfield died Wednesday night [September 25, 1985] at the Clearview
Nursing Home here. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Clearfield United Methodist Church. The
Rev. Duane FERGUSON will officiate with burial in the Clearfield Cemetery. McMATH was born Jan. 7, 1889, in
Louisa County, Iowa. On Sept. 3, 1919, he married Edna HARTMAN in Clearfield. He was a farmer and lived
most of his life in the Clearfield area. He was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife, Edna;
two sons, Dwight (wife Helen) and Bob (wife Shirley) McMATH of Clearfield; two daughters, Lavon (Mrs. Bob)
BROWN of Clearfield and Marilyn (Mrs. Dale) SCHLAPIA of Mount Ayr; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren
and two sisters, Kathryn BLACK of Clearfield and June HOUSEAL of Conesville, Iowa. A memorial has been
established to the Clearfield United Methodist Church or the American Legion.
