Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

Clarence Jesse MAUDLIN, eldest child of James Franklin and Luella WOLFORD MAUDLIN, was born Feb. 1, 1897, in Ringgold County near Redding, Iowa, and departed this life on Jan. 30, 1975, at the Greater Community Hospital at Creston. He had been in failing health since a car accident in April, 1970. He was 77 years, 11 months and 30 days at the time of his death.

Clarence spent all of his life in Iowa and Missouri. He moved to Missouri with his parents near Allendale, Mo., when he was four-years-old, and lived there until 1936, when he moved to Maloy, and in 1938 moved to Sharpsburg. He was a farmer before moving to Sharpsburg.

He was married to Avis Bertha OLNEY on July 3, 1921. He leaves to mourn his passing his widow; one sister, Audra SMITH of Grant City, Mo.; two brothers, Wilbert of Grant City, Mo. and Leonard of Clearfield; his sister-in-law and her husband, Opal and Carroll MOTSINGER, and nieces, Lois PHILLIPS, Lela RINEHART and Luella BARKER, and other nieces and nephews.

He was a patient sufferer. All who loved him will miss him. He always had a smile for everyone who came in to see him.

Services were held Saturday, Feb. 1, from the Rhoades-Wilson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Rev. Orville RINEHART in charge. Music was provided by soloist, Sundae KNOTT, accompanied by organist Mrs. Irma WILCOX. Casketbearers were Elvis MAUDLIN, Ellis MAUDLIN, Terry RINEHART, Wade MOTSINGER, Carl E. COMBS and LeROy OLNEY. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr.
