OBITUARY ~ WILBERT MARSHALL LONG

Wilbert Marshall Long was born in Mercer county, Pennsylvania, April 15, 1867 and died at his home in Clearfield May 12, 1932, at the age of 65 years and 27 days.
When he was seven years of age he came with his parents to Iowa where he grew to manhood.
He received his business education at Tarkio, going from there to Omaha where he spent several years.
He came back to Clearfield about 40 years ago where he has since been engaged in business.
In 1896 he united with the United Presbyterian church of Clearfield and has always been a consistent member.
In 1900 he was united in marriage to Lola Henderson of this place [Clearfield]. No children were born to this union, but two children of a brother were taken into the home when they were small and were treated as their own, namely: Wilbert B. Long of Clearfield and Mrs. Viva Long Hawthorne of Washington, D. C.
W.M. as he was known to most everyone, will be greatly missed in the home, in the church, and in the community at large.
He is survived by his wife, Lola Henderson Long, Wilbert B. Long and Viva Hawthorne, four brothers, J. C. of Lompoc, California; Mark Long of Long Beach, Cal.; Dr. Lee Long of Fresno, and Dr. Sam Long of Bakersfield, Cali.; three sisters, Mrs Anna Strain of Clearfield, Mrs. Maggie Wyant of Bedford, Mrs. Suzie Gordon of Lenox, also a host of nieces and nephews besides other relatives and friends.
The pall bearers were the nephews, G.A. and Hugh Wyant, Roy and Wilbert Long, Lee and Hugh Gordon. Honorary pall bearers were Paul Wilson and Claire Henderson.
Funeral services were held in the United Presbyterian church Sunday at 1:00. Rev. H. B. Hutchinson officiated and was assisted by Rev. J. C. Turner, pastor of the Methodist church and Rev. P. L. Browns, pastor of the Christian church. Interment was made in Clearfield cemetery.
Among the relatives from a distance who attended the funeral of Wilbert Long were:—Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gordon, sons Leland and Hugh, Mrs. Hugh Gordon, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Wyant and daughter Juanita, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Long of Lenox;Mr. and Mrs. J. U, Wyant and daughter Helen of Bedford; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilson of Des Moines; Orville Wyant of Kan.sad City, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Will Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. Claire Henderson and family, of Tingley and Mrs. Perry Wilson and daughter Margaret of Shannon City; Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Brown of Hastings, Nebraska; also Dr. Brown’s sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Willard of Atlantic, Iowa.
