Anna LARSON, 86, of Mount Ayr, died Jan. 8, 2010, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

Services are pending at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr, scheduled for Monday, January 11, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Burial is in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr. Memorials are to United Baptist-Presbyterian Church and Clearview Home Activity Fund.

Anna Margaret LARSON, 86, of Mount Ayr, Iowa died January 8, 2010 at the Ringgold County Hospital.

Ann was born to Russell and Hazel (DUGAN) HOUGUE on August 14, 1923 in rural Kellerton. She attended several country schools in the county and finished her education at the Mount Ayr high school before going to work at the Ringgold county courthouse.

On August 12, 1945 she was united in marriage to Gene Roy LARSON. They were the first couple married at the Wishard Chapel Church north of Mount Ayr. To this union were born three children, Kathleen Annette, Thomas Russell and John Roy.

Ann was devoted to her family and loved being a farmwife. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, embroidery, puzzles and journaling. She and Gene were known for their faithful attendance of their children’s and grandchildren's school events. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and later the United Baptist-Presbyterian Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathleen (husband William) BLUNCK, Thomas (wife Debra) LARSON and John (wife Diana) LARSON; grandchildren, Annette SWANEY, William BLUNCK II, Traci KNOLL, Angela RIGGS, Hans LARSON and Logan LARSON; great-grandchildren, Brett and Dylan SWANEY and Ava, Jack and Max KNOLL; brother, Charles HOGUE; sisters, Mary McCREARY, Doris MAHRENHOLTZ and Aileene DICKERSON, as well as a host of other family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents and beloved husband, Gene.

Memorial funds have been established to the Clearview Nursing Home activity fund and the United Baptist-Presbyterian Church. Services were conducted at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Monday, January 11, 2009, with Rev. Michael MADDY officiating. Musicians included Elaine WILLIS, Carol McCREARY and Barbie BELZER.

Casket bearers were Tom LARSON, John LARSON, Logan LARSON, Hans LARSON, Bill BLUNCK II and Will KNOLL.

Honorary pallbearers included Bill BLUNCK, Jim McCREARY and Ed McCREARY.

Ann was laid at rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr.
