Dennis Ray Kerns, youngest son of Don Kerns and Marcella Kerns Scott, was born
April 27, 1956, and entered into God's rest on July 22, 1995, at the age of
39.
Denny spent his entire life the Clearfield area graduating from Clearfield
High School with the class of 1974.
He attended Southwestern Community College in Creston for two years before
returning to Clearfield to farm.
On July 24, 1976, Denny was united in marriage to Linda Van Winkle. To this
union was born three children, Amy Beth, Shane Ryan, and Rachel Lynn.
In 1978, Denny and Linda established Kerns Plumbing and Electric. Denny used
his many skills in electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning to serve
others.
Denny always had a smile and enjoyed serving others in any way possible. He
enjoyed working with his sheep, cattle, and horses. Denny was always involved
in the activities of his children, and was so proud of their
accomplishments.
Denny was a member of the Clearfield United Methodist Church. He had accepted
Christ as his personal Saviour and his faith was the most important thing to
him. He was also a member of the Clearfield Lions Club, the Clearfield
Business Club, and several Heating and Cooling Organizations.
Denny is survived by his wife, Linda, and their children Amy, Shane, and
Rachel; his mother Marcella and her husband, Leo Scott; his father Don and his
wife, Vivian; two brothers, Steven and his wife, Becky of Clearfield,
Kevin and his wife, Deb of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Suzanne and her husband
Kevin Finck of Rochester, Minn.; three nephews, Evan, Karl, and Matthew Kerns;
one niece, Jennifer Kerns; two aunts, Norma Black of Lenox and Pat Koontz of
Martinsdale, Ia.; a grandfather, Harold Kerns of Lenox; and a great-aunt
Margaret Hurley of Des
Moines; several cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were Wednesday, July 26 at the Clearfield United Methodist
Church with Pastor Al Rusk officiating. Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery.
