OBITUARY ~ NANCY ELEANOR HAMMACK WELLIVER JEANES

Mrs. Robert Jeanes passed away at her home here [Clearfield] Wednesday afternoon after a Illness of several months. Funeral services were held in the Christian Church Saturday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. Phillip Nystrand officiating,a quartet Mr. and Mrs. J. Ralph Crew, Mrs. J. D. Barrans, and Don Green singing. Pall bearers were: Gene Baxter, Elmer Nickles, Lennie Andrews U. S. Grant, Walter McKinstry, aad Ollie Stevensin; interment in Clearfield Cemetery, Nancy Eleanor, daughter of Ephiriam and Ellen Hammack, was born in Mercer county, Illinois, May 19th, 1858, and departed this life at her home in Clearfield Aug. 15th, 1934, aged 78 years, 2 mo. and 26 days. She grew to womanhood in Mercer county, and on November 16th, 1876 was united in marriage to John Wendal Welliver and they began their married life on a farm near North Henderson Illinois. In 1869 they moved to Alma, Nebr. residing there until 1904 when they came to Clearfield, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, Charley, Jessie and Myrtle, but sorrow came upon
the home, Charley passing away at the age of six months, Jessie, at the age of three years and Nellie, an adopted daughter, at the age of five years. The husband died in 1905. On August 18th, she was united in marriage to Robert Jeanes of Clearfield, where they have since made their home. Mrs. Jeanes was a member of the Christian church and lived a life of devotion to her savior, and the church, especially enjoying her Bible School Class, the Loyal Women and their activities. No one was more faithful to the work than she, untiring in her efforts of love, she made life easier and happier for all around her. She had been failing in health and strength for several months, and her daughter Myrtle and her grand daughters , Thelma and Phyllis of Clarinda came often to help minister her. Mrs. Orn, a sister came Sunday from Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. To cherish her memory are: her husband, her daughter, two grand daughters four brothers, William Hammock of San Bernardino, California, Payne and Notley Hammack of San Diego, California, John Hammack of Wilton, North Dak., four sisters, Mrs. Mrs. Delia Long, Mary and Alice Hammack of Alhambra, California, and Mrs. Lydia Orn of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and a number of nieces and nephews, also the children and grand-chlldren of her husband whom she dearly loved.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry McGuire of Urbandale, Iowa Mrs. Anna McGuire of Indianola, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. O. D. Mercer of Mt. Ayr, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Freeman and daughter Barbra of Blockton, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Greenly of Gravity, Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Jeanes of Redding, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Jeanes and
family of Mount Ayr, Mrs. Anna McGuire of Osceola, Miss Myrtle Price of Diagonal, Mr. and Mrs. Don Bennett of near Lenox attended the funeral of Mrs. Robert Jeanes here Saturday.
