OBITUARY ~ SHARON KAY (BRITT) HOWER
April 20, 1944 ~ August 25, 2017

On Friday, August 25, 2017 heaven gained a precious angel, Sharon Kay (Britt) Hower, entered into eternal peace at Greater Regional Hospice House at the age of 73. Sharon not only gained her wings but she received the “smoking hot body” she’s been waiting for from Iowa Cremation. A come and go Celebration of Life will be held September 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Diagonal with a luncheon to follow, casual dress is requested. There will be words from Tim Maxa and Ed Shields at the beginning and the end of the celebration. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to HCI Hospice Care Services, 1111 Country Club Drive, Creston, IA 50801.

Sharon was born April 20, 1944 to William Alan and Eva Pearl (Watts) Britt in their home on Highway 62 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Sharon was one of ten children: Ray, Tiny (Glenn), Norman, Ruby Jean, Nadine, Bill (June), Ronald, Donnie, and Mikey. She grew up attending school in Mountain Home. Over the years she was employed at Baxter Lab, Williams Café, Taylor Fiberglass, Sheridan Egg, Texaco and she also provided daycare services. In 1966, Sharon met Richard (Dick) Lee Hower, the love her life, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Sharon and Dick were married May 29, 1967 in Grant City, Missouri. Sharon’s love for her family was endless; however the love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was even greater. She loved planting and caring for her multiple flower gardens and collecting angels. Sharon also shared a strong bond with her best friends Barb Strange and Linda Klug, and her niece Debbie Parks.

Left to cherish Sharon’s memory is her husband, Dick Hower of Diagonal, Iowa; her children Rick Hower and significant other, Ann of Mount Ayr, Iowa, Ronnie Britt and significant other, Tabitha of West Des Moines, Iowa, Eva “Shelly” Marshall and husband Richard of Lenox, Iowa, Jacque Oglesby and husband Terry of Maryville, Missouri, Klisa “Krissy” Lynam and husband Paul of Lenox, Iowa; her grandchildren Paislee Dalton husband Ethan, Bradlee Lynam, Kreyton Lynam, Tyler Oglesby, Sadee Rojas and husband Juan, Vilas “Trey” Oglesby, Kirston “KJ” Lynam, Taybrin “TJ” Oglesby, Shelby and Shayne Scott, Cheyenne Britt, Tate Oglesby, Bryce Hower; her step-grandchildren Sammy, Leevi, Duncan, and Dawson Marshall; her great-grandchildren Kaelee and Baron Lynam, Drakelee and Lexton Rojas, Ryder Dalton, and Jaxton Garcia; her sister Nadine Dewey and husband Cecil; her brother Mikey Britt and wife Pattie; her sister-in-laws Wynona Britt, Lonene Britt, and Patsy Britt; her brother-in-law Bob Hower and wife Mary and sister-in-law Sharon Slote and husband Ronnie and many more nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding Sharon in death are her parents, William and Pearl Britt; her father and mother-in-law Ernie and Eula Hower; her brothers Ray, Tiny, Norman, Ronald, and Donnie Britt; her sisters Ruby Jean Cowart and June Kellem; her sister-in-laws Doris Britt and Carolyn Britt; her brother-in-laws Calvin Cowart and Harvey Kellem and of course, our “uncle Elvis Presley”.

We would like to thank HCI Hospice Care Services and the Greater Regional Hospice House for the amazing care our mom received. We would like to specifically thank Gentry and Sara from HCI Hospice, Dr. Ron Schaefer and his nurses, and Dr. Ricker.

We will forever cherish the memories of a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. It’s not good bye, it’s see you soon. We love you!
