Patty Lou (Perkins) Haight of Mount Ayr, formerly of Arispe, passed away of heart failure Friday, December 30, 2016 at the age of 78, one week before her 79th birthday, in Mount Ayr, Iowa. She was loved very much by her family and many friends. Family was the most important aspect of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Patty was born January 7,1938 in rural Arispe, Iowa to Roy Bruce Perkins and Beulah Josephine (Marler) Perkins. She attended country school in Sand Creek township. Patty attended Arispe High School, home of the Pirates, and graduated in May 1956.

Patty married her high school sweetheart, Dale Franklin Haight, at the Arispe UMC Sunday, November 25, 1956. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at the Arispe UMC last month with a family celebration which Patty thoroughly enjoyed.

Patty was a true farm wife and was a helpmate to Dale all of their years farming in rural Pleasant township, Union county Iowa. Dale and Patty moved to their current home in Mount Ayr, Iowa January 2011.

Patty was a member of the Arispe UMC and former member of UMW. She enjoyed being a homemaker and made a wonderful and loving home for her family. Patty was a great cook and always made sure there was more than enough food for everyone. One of her favorite sayings was, “All’s well that ends well.”

Patty is survived by her devoted husband, Dale and also by her children, Linda (Hal) McClelland of Cumming; Steven (Linda) Haight of Ellston and Lori Ann Haight of Grimes. Grandchildren: Courtney and Bryan Rush of Norwalk; Brenton and Jana McClelland of Ankeny; Clinton and Jessica Haight of Ellston; Catelin Haight and fiancé Aaron Haack of Orange City.
