Don Richard KELLER, age 82, was born September 1, 1928 to Leroy K. and Juanita L. (CREES) KELLER in Grand River township of Decatur county, Iowa. He passed from this life on August 3, 2011 at the Creston Regional Hospice House in Creston, Iowa.

Don graduated from Grand River high school and was a life long resident of the Grand River community. He married Dorothy Louise BUELL on September 10, 1948, the day after her 18th birthday. To this union two children were born, Ricky Lee and Kay Jeannine.

Don worked as a mail carrier as a young man, farmed on Sand Creek and also farmed and had a small dairy herd west of Grand River. He worked as a mechanic for 33 years at REASONER'S Garage in Beaconsfield and also operated the Valley Grocery in Grand River for a year. He retired in 1990.

Don enjoyed woodworking in his early years of retirement and helped out twice a week at the local meal site. In recent years he enjoyed spending time with his wife of over 62 years, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, good friends Eddy and Delbert, and especially his little dog, Yogi.

Don could be seen several times a day going for walks with Yogi, picking up cans and visiting with his many friends in town. He was also a life-time Yankee fan.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Juanita, and his older brother, Jack.

Left to mourn his memory are his wife, Dorothy of Grand River, Iowa; son, Rick KELLER and wife Nancy of Grand River, Iowa; daughter, Kay WILLIE of New Market, Iowa; grandchildren, Melinda and JR MACKEY, Andrew and Amber KELLER, Cindee and Ryan O'DELL, Scott and Mindy BEBOUT, Todd and Julie STRANGE, Jasen and Sierra BEBOUT, Casey and Mike RIEDEL and Dusty and Kerri BEBOUT; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy WOODY of Villisca, Iowa, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Grand River Saturday, August 6, 2011, with Father Glen WILWERDING officiating. Burial was in the O'Grady Cemetery, north of Grand River. Arrangements were through the Slade–O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni.
