The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1932
DEATH of MRS. RICHARD A. HOLLAND.
Mrs. Richard A. HOLLAND, a resident of Ringgold county for more than fifty years and one of the best loved women of Monroe
township passed away Friday, September 30 at the Iowa Methodist hospital, Des Moines, where she had been taken two weeks previously and where
she had submitted to a surgical operation in the hope of being restored to health. She is survived by her husband and ten children -
seven sons and three daughters. Funeral services for Mrs. HOLLAND were held at the Methodist church in Beaconsfield Sunday
afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. WILKINS, assisted by Dr. Jesse JOHNSON, pastor of the Mount Ayr United Presbyterian church, and
burial was in Maple Row cemetery at Kellerton. The services were largely attended by friends of the family who came to pay tribute of
respect to the departed and to share with the bereaved ones their burden of grief. Many beautiful floral tributes bore
silent testimony to the high esteem in which the departed was held in the community. The seven sons served as pall bearers.
Fannie Alberta JOHNSTON, daughter of William and Elizabeth JOHNSTON, was born July 3rd, 1873, near Brimfield, Illinois, and departed
this life at the Iowa Methodist hospital, Des Moines, Iowa, September 30, 1932, at the age of 59 years, two months and 27 days. At the
age of seven years she moved with her parents to Ringgold county where she grew to womanhood. Very early in life she was
converted and her Sunday school and church were very dear to her. On November 26, 1890, she was united in marriage to Richard A.
HOLLAND. To this union twelve children were born, two dying in infancy. Besides her bereaved husband, she leaves to mourn her ten
children, Samuel W., Arthur F. and Kenneth T. of Mount Ayr, Richard L. of Sandwich, Ill., Robert L. and Roy J. of Diagonal, and
Albert C. of Clarinda, Katherine E. of Beaconsfield, Mildred F. of Grimes, Iowa, and Mayme [born 1915] at home. Besides these she leaves two brothers,

many friends. NOTE of APPRECIATION. We take this means of expressing to our neighbors and friends
our sincere and heart-felt thanks for their kindness during the illness and at the death and funeral of our wife and mother. For the helpful
