Harold J. Ethington, age 85, of Ames, Iowa died February 6 at the North Grand
Care Center
in Ames.
He was born July 1, 1895 in Ringgold county. He was a graduate of Clearfield
High School and attended Iowa State University. Ethington was a self employed
plumber until 1941,when he moved to Ames. He then was employed as a plumber by
the Palmer Plumbing Co. and Puffet Plumbing. A veteran of World War I, he was
a member of the American Legion and also a member of the Collegiate Methodist
Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen who died May 17, 1971. On February
24, 1973
he married Clara Chastain who survives.
He is also survived by four sons, Dean of Cedar Falls; Claire of North Oak,
Minn.: Dale of
Cedar Falls; and Paul of Birmingham, Mich.; one daughter, Marilyn Russie of
Des Moines;
seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday. February 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Adams
Funeral Home with the Reverend Nick Saunders officiating.
Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery at Clearfield with graveside services at
3:30 p.m.
on February 10.
