Leah Mary FERRING of Des Moines died Wednesday, September 27, 2006 following a brief illness.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Jan) FERRING of Puget Sound, WA; daughter, Sheila FERRING of Des Moines; four grandsons and two granddaughters, Steve THOMPSON of Edmunds, WA, Randy and Kathryn THOMPSON of St. Paul, MN, Matthew and Alana FERRING of San Ramon, CA, and Charlie FERRING of Bothell, WA; sister, Eileen WICKSTROM of Chicago, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Glendale Cemetery. There will be a reception following the service from 3 to 5 p.m. at B Good Bistro, 3801 Ingersoll Avenue, Des Moines. The family asks that friends join them for a toast to celebrate Leah's life.

Leah's family wants to thank the staff at John Stoddard Health Center at Wesley Acres for their exceptional care during their mother's illness. A special thank you goes to Dr. Carey WIMER and Dr. Sean CUNNINGHAM for their friendship and support and to the management and staff at Barnes and Noble for their compassion and flexibility at a time it truly made a difference.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests reading to a child in Leah's memory.
