Marvin E. Campbell of Lorimor, formerly of Santa Fe, Texas passed away July
24, 1999 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Corning. He was 66.
Mr. Campbell, the son of Joseph M. and Bertha L. (Keller) Campbell was born
October 3, 1932 in Shannon City, Iowa. He retired from the U.S. Navy, was
employed as an electrician in Texas, before moving to Lorimor five years ago.
He was baptized in the United Methodist Church and was a member of American
Legion Post No. 96 of Lorimor.
Marvin graduated from the Benton High School in 1952. He then attended college
in Tarkio and Simpson College in Indianola.
In 1956 Marvin was united in marriage to Nancy Jane Drake of Mount Ayr, IA. To
this union a son, Jeffrey was born on October 22, 1957.
Marvin went on to complete a full 20 year career in the U.S. Navy, which
included one tour in Korea and two tours in Viet Nam. Marvin was highly
recognized and cited for his duty and conduct and was retired with honors.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Paul Campbell.
He is survived by a son, Jeffrey (wife Susan) Campbell of Vacaville, CA, five
brothers, Dale Campbell of Clearfield; Melvin (wife Alice) Campbell of
Glendale, AZ; Clyde (wife Nancy) Campbell of San Pablo, CA; Ronald (wife
Carolyn) Campbell of Bellaire, TX and Robert Campbell of Denver, CO; three
sisters, Edith Warren of Lorimor, IA; Donna (husband Glen) Adams of Santa Fe,
New Mexico; and Zelda (husband Dave) Winslow of Lenox; and two grandchildren.
Services were held July 28, 1999 at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield
with the Rev. Alan Rusk officiating. Music was provided by Mrs.
John Parrish.
Casketbearers were Paul Winslow, Jerry Campbell, Jack Campbell, Jim Campbell,
Roger Breach, Joey Campbell. Honorary pallbearers were Doug
Wellingham, Lyle Jordan, Dan Grosebeck, Jim Decker, Charlie Warren, Bob
Campbell and Philip Adams.
Interment was in the Clearfield Cemetery in Clearfield, IA. Military graveside
rites were conducted by American Legion Woodside Post
No. 97 of Clearfield.
The Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home in Clearfield was in charge of
arrangements.
