J[osiah]. Gwynne DOWLIN, a resident of the Blockton community for many years, and for the last several years of Bedford, died at the home of his daughter in Des Moines Thursday, October 12.

The body was brought to Bedford and the funeral services were held at the Wetmore Funeral Home Saturday afternoon, October 14, conducted by Rev. E. E. STRINGFELLOW of Des Moines. Burial was in the Blockton [Rose Hill] cemetery.

J[osiah]. Gwynne DOWLIN was born near Davistown, Greene County, Pennsylvania, October 6, 1859, being aged 85 years and 6 days at the time of his death.

He is survived by one son and two daughters, John L[ewis]. DOWLIN of Compton, Calif., Gladys E. RICH of Des Moines, and Virginia DOWLIN of Rockford, Ill. Also by three grandchildren: John L[ewis]. DOWLIN, Jr. and Ann DOWLIN of Compton, and Herbert G. RICH of Des Moines.

His wife, Jessie HARTLEY DOWLIN, preceded him in death on February 28, 1935.
